Meghalaya Govt Issues Land Acquisition Alert for 4-Lane Corridor in East Khasi Hills



The Government of Meghalaya, through the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), has initiated the process to acquire land for the proposed 4-Lane Greenfield Alignment (High-Speed Corridor) that will pass through multiple villages under the East Khasi Hills District.

The identified villages include Mawsiatkhnam, Lumkseh, Lumdiensai, Nonghali, Mawpdang (Mawkhanu), Diengpasoh (Jaroit), and Mawryngkneng (Mawiong Sung).

The general public is hereby informed that any new construction or development activity within the demarcated areas of the proposed corridor must obtain prior permission from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.

“The general public is hereby informed that any new construction or development activity within the designated areas of the proposed 4-Lane Greenfield Alignment (High-Speed Corridor) must obtain prior permission from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner,” the notice  stated. 

“Furthermore, it is hereby clearly stated that any unauthorized structures whether temporary or permanent erected within the proposed ROW after the issuance of this notice will not be considered eligible for any form of compensation at the time of land acquisition or project implementation. This applies to both private and commercial structures. This order shall come into immediate effect from the date of publication,” it read.
