Meghalaya Police to Trace Sanjay Verma in Ongoing Murder Probe of Raja Raghuvanshi

The focus of the Raja Raghuvanshi murder investigation has now shifted to Indore, with Meghalaya Police intensifying efforts to trace Sanjay Verma, a key figure who reportedly had extensive contact with the victim’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi. Media reports suggest that “between March 1 and March 25, Sonam and Sanjay exchanged 119 calls.” His mobile phone is currently switched off.

“We need to interrogate Sonam,” a police source said, adding that the investigation has “moved towards Indore,” where a Meghalaya Police team is currently stationed.

Govind Raghuvanshi, the brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi told a News agency, “I have come to know that the Meghalaya Police came yesterday… I don’t know what will happen next. I have been called to Shillong to give a statement, but there’s no confirmation yet… no strong follow-up either. I told them that if there is any emergency, they should inform me I will take the first available flight and come.”

The five accused will be produced before the court tomorrow, and police will seek additional remand as “more investigations [are] left.” Sonam’s phone has been destroyed, and only one Raja ‘s mobile was recovered, with police now searching for a second phone. “Till Ghazipur she likely had a phone… we are trying to find out,” the source added.

Investigators are also verifying possible links with Jitendra Raghuvanshi, whom Sonam was reportedly “maintaining the account.”

Police confirmed that Raja’s gold and diamond valuables have not been recovered.

No criminal records have been found yet against those accused under scrutiny.

Meanwhile, police are probing a possible “meeting of minds” and have not ruled out a monetary exchange.
