The Meghalaya BJP has made it clear that the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) is being pursued collectively through the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, rather than by the party independently. Senior BJP legislator and former Cabinet Minister AL Hek said the party has actively participated in the resolution on ILP adoption passed by the state government.
“Already, we have taken a resolution in the Meghalaya State Legislative Assembly, and BJP was also part of it. We are part of the resolution because it was adopted collectively,” Hek said.
Asked whether the BJP is pursuing ILP implementation with the Centre independently, he said, “We are doing it through the MDA only. Since the resolution has been passed by the Government, we are working together with the Government. All decisions are being taken collectively as part of the MDA in pursuing this issue.”
