Congress to Announce GHADC Candidates Only After Poll Schedule Is Notified: Vincent H Pala

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress committee President Vincent H Pala on Thursday asserted that the Congress will only announce its candidates after the election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council is formally announced, underscoring that the party is in no haste and is instead focusing on preparedness and internal consolidation ahead of the crucial council polls scheduled to be held later this year. With political momentum gradually intensifying across Garo Hills, Pala maintained that the party has already completed its organisational groundwork and is deliberately waiting for the official election notification before finalising its candidates, reflecting a calibrated strategy that prioritises scrutiny and readiness over early announcements.
Reiterating the party’s stand, he said, “Meghalaya Prasad Congress Committee President Vincent H Pala said the party will announce candidates for the GHADC elections only when elections dates are announced.” He further explained that the Congress has been actively strengthening its internal processes, having invited applications from aspirants over the past two months and witnessing a strong response from within the party. “We have called the application for the last one two months and we have got close to 70 applicant applying for the party ticket for the 29 seats in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council elections. The decision will be taken once elections is announced, we have done all the preparation.” The GHADC elections are scheduled to be held later this year.
