Waquil Ahmed named Meghalaya’s Best NCC Officer for 2025–26


In a significant recognition of service and leadership within the National Cadet Corps, Waquil Ahmed, a teacher at Rai Bahadur Anupchand Hindi Secondary School and serving as Associate NCC Officer, has been conferred the “Best NCC Officer (ANO)” award for the year 2025–26.
The honour acknowledges sustained commitment, disciplined leadership, and notable contributions to strengthening NCC activities and mentoring cadets in the State. Ahmed’s role as First Officer has been marked by consistent efforts in training, coordination, and fostering a culture of excellence among young cadets.
The award was presented at a formal ceremony attended by senior military and civil dignitaries. The event was graced by Meghalaya’s Sports Minister Wailadmiki Sella as Chief Guest, in the presence of Major General Anurag Vij, Additional Director General, NCC North Eastern Region. Group Commanders from across the Northeast, Commanding Officers, Associate NCC Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and a large number of cadets were also in attendance.
The recognition is seen as a moment of pride for the institution and the State, with Ahmed’s achievement expected to serve as a motivating example for cadets aspiring to excel in the National Cadet Corps.
