Shillong, June 21: In a shocking turn of events, a man allegedly suffering from mental health issues was lynched by a mob this evening after he attacked another individual with a dao in West Garo Hills district.
According to police, at around 5:15 PM, the Officer-in-Charge of Rajabala Police Station received a call informing that “one Shri Aminul Islam @ Bhulu, 32 years, S/o Samsul Haque of Morasuti, attacked Shri Fulbahar Sk, S/o Late Nur Hussain, with a dao at Morasuti Road.”
“After attacking him, the accused Shri Aminul Islam tried to run away from the spot. However, the public/mob chased him and also attacked him as a result of which he sustained deep lacerated wounds on his head and other parts of the body and died on the spot at New Bhaitbari near Durga Mandir under Rajabala PS,” the police stated.
Police added that the deceased attacker is “also reported to be mentally unsound.”
The mob has since been dispersed, and a police team has taken custody of the deceased for necessary action.
