The brutal assault on members of an NGO at Goalgaon under Rajabala Police Station, which led to the death of one of the injured victims, has taken a significant turn with the West Garo Hills District Police successfully tracking down and arresting eight persons allegedly involved in the crime within a week of the incident and constituted a Special Investigation Team to intensify the probe. The case, registered as Rajabala PS Case No. 01/26, pertains to the fatal attack in which Dilseng M. Sangma, son of Gaban Ch. Marak of Amokgre in Phulbari, West Garo Hills district, later succumbed to his injuries, triggering widespread concern and demands for swift justice.
Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Abraham T. Sangma, IPS, informed that sustained operations led by the district police have resulted in tracking down and arresting eight perpetrators involved in the incident. The Superintendent of Police West Garo Hills said the arrests were made from different parts of Meghalaya as well as from various locations in Assam. Those arrested have been identified as Anarul Islam, aged 30 years, Rafiqul Islam, aged 47 years, Atowar Hussain, aged 40 years, Ariful Islam, aged 30 years, Ashadur Sk., aged 21 years, Mozidur Hussain, aged 22 years, Mofidur Hussain, aged 33 years, and Mozahidur Rahman, aged 22 years.
Police have further informed that a Special Investigation Team has been constituted in connection with the case and is being headed by R. A. Sangma, MPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Dadenggre.

Emphasising the seriousness of the investigation, the West Garo Hills District Superintendent of Police assured that “no stone shall be left unturned to nab all the accused persons involved in the incident and bring them to justice as per the law of the land.”
Sangma said all the arrested accused have been produced before the local court and are presently in custody for further interrogation as police work to track down other perpetrators linked to the incident. The district police have also appealed to all concerned and to the general public to maintain peace and harmony, cautioning people against being misled by rumours or unverified content, and urging responsible behaviour on social media.
