SHILLONG: Two petrol bombs were hurled at the National People’s Party (NPP) office at Lower Lachumiere early on Friday, while a petrol-bomb attempt was reported at Madanrting and a motorcycle suspected to belong to the police was set ablaze at Malki.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that two petrol bombs were hurled at the NPP office, but said there was no damage.
On the Madanrting incident, Syiem said, “Madanrting PS early morning but hit the wires and Police Bike burnt in Malki.”
The motorcycle, suspected to belong to the police department, was parked along the roadside at Malki when it was set ablaze. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.
The incidents came less than 24 hours after a petrol bomb was hurled at the Nongmensong Police Outpost around 9.20 p.m. on Thursday, causing damage to the building’s wall and furniture. No casualties were reported.
