Shillong, September 26: The Meghalaya Government on Friday ruled out any regrouping of surrendered cadres of either the Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) or its breakaway faction ANVC(B). In a high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong, it was resolved to appoint one dedicated nodal officer to streamline the implementation of the 2014 Agreed Text for Settlement and to ensure clause-by-clause monitoring across departments in the Garo Hills.
Tynsong, speaking after the meeting, said, “We discussed clause by clause, line by line. Some of them no decision is taken until the 125th Amendment is passed by Parliament. Packages provided by the surrenderees, few issues like subject of developmental activities — road, art and culture. At least 50-60 percent of the very text agreement is met. We will closely see that monitor. Around 40 percent left on development schemes. However, all the financial promises made to the members of ANVC and ANVC(B) as per the text settlement agreement has been cleared.” He further stressed, “One dedicated nodal officers to make things easier and simplier to achieve the agreed text settlement agreement. Clause by clause, points by points which will also discuss different departments in Garo Hills. We are going to notify soon. Meeting was constructive. Reason for delay, first is the MHA and second is State Government and this is District Council meeting. Sometimes it gets delayed. No such regrouping. As per the… Out of 122-123 around 60-62 numbers of criminal cases are cleared. Eventually all the agreed upon in the text settlement agreement is cleared. Over 500 members are there with the two groups. This is long process, we will have quarterly meeting if need be.”
