Senior leader of the United Democratic Party and former Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday said the party is yet to take a decision regarding the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council. “As have mentioned by General Secretary of the Party, we are yet to take any call, I am not aware because the party is yet to meet, I really have no idea because I have been quite with the budget session and thereafter I have also been occupied with activities of the social welfare department,” he said.
On the possibility of contesting the MP election, Lyngdoh said his focus remains on state politics. “No I have entirely focus on state politics because it is so much to be done in the state there is clear gap of capable leaders within the state, therefore my entire focus as of this moment is within the jurisdiction of the state of Meghalaya.” He added that he intends to complete his current term. “The party have capable leaders, but you will also realize that we have just cross two and half years mark of the current house, I would like to ensure that I complete this term to the satisfaction not just the electorate of Shillong West but also the state of Meghalaya.” When asked if he would reconsider if the party requested him to contest, Lyngdoh said, “I would politely decline such a request.”
