Two Arrested in Indore, Police Recover Charred Bag in Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case

Shillong, June 22: In a significant breakthrough in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Meghalaya Police have detained two individuals in Indore and recovered a black bag belonging to co-accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, found fully charred. “The forensic team has come to lift the debris. We will get it examined in CFSL,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said on Saturday.

The two detainees include a property dealer, Silome James, who had rented out a flat to accused Vishal Singh Chauhan. “Chauhan in turn handed over the keys to Raj,” the SP said, adding that Sonam Raghuvanshi was also residing in the flat prior to her arrest. James was reportedly caught on CCTV removing Sonam’s bag from the apartment, and his detention is being linked to the disappearance of several crucial items in the case.

The second individual, identified as Balbir Ahirbar, is a security guard and carpenter from Ashok Nagar district. Police suspect he holds key information related to the movements of the accused.

“Both individuals are expected to be produced in court at Indore. Transit remand will be obtained to bring them to Shillong for further legal proceedings,” SP Syiem said. James was apprehended while attempting to flee at Bhonrasa Toll Gate in Dewas district around 7:30 PM on Friday.
