Sonam’s Second Phone Missing, Possibly Shifted by Someone: SP Confirms Major Lead in Murder Probe

Shillong, June 19 — In a significant development in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Meghalaya Police are actively searching for a second mobile phone belonging to prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, which investigators believe that perhaps it has been moved from its original location. Authorities suspect the phone—along with jewellery and other personal items—was shifted by somebody as the police team trying to ascertain who has taken it.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said, “The second team is still looking for the second phone out there. We believe that second phone is probably with the jewellery and other items which Sonam has left behind, and we were hoping that when the team goes there… the place was locked, so the items of Sonam would be there. But it appears that it has been shifted from there by somebody, and the team is out there to ascertain who has taken it and where all these items are.”

On another crucial lead, Syiem clarified confusion around the identity of ‘Sanjay Verma.’ “This name I don’t know how it emitted, but Sanjay Verma is a fictitious name actually registered in Truecaller. The number pertains to Raj Kushwaha himself,” he revealed. “But the tally of calls between Raj and Sonam is huge.”

Asked whether Sonam’s brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, will be brought to Shillong for questioning, Syiem stated, “They have already done questioning of Govind Raghuvanshi out there, Govind ‘s mother and today they have ascertained who the driver was who took Sonam to Uttar Pradesh..”
