Meghalaya felicitates SSLC toppers with cash awards

In a significant push to recognise academic excellence and inspire young achievers, the Meghalaya government on Friday felicitated 40 meritorious students from the Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills districts who excelled in the SSLC examination, awarding them cash incentives under the Chief Minister’s Special Grant. The initiative, described as a first-of-its-kind effort, reflects a broader attempt to institutionalise the recognition of scholastic achievement while encouraging students across the State to aspire for higher academic goals.
The programme also underscored the State’s focus on strengthening the education sector by rewarding performance and perseverance. Interactions with the awardees, who shared their journeys of hard work and determination, added a personal dimension to the event, reinforcing the government’s emphasis on nurturing talent and building a strong academic foundation for Meghalaya’s future.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said, “Glad to felicitate the 40 meritorious students of the SSLC examination from Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills Districts by presenting cash awards to these bright young achievers through the Chief Minister’s Special Grant today.”
He added, “This first-of-its-kind initiative marks our commitment to celebrating excellence and nurturing the dreams of our students, and we aim to make this an annual tradition. Listening to the heartfelt testimonials of these young minds was truly inspiring and reaffirmed my belief that Meghalaya’s future is in capable hands.”
He further said, “May they continue to work hard, dream big, and shine wherever life takes them. The Government remains committed in supporting every student in their journey towards success.”
