Meghalaya Assembly Budget Session to begin February 16, CM to present state budget on February 20

The Budget Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is set to commence on February 16 and continue until February 27, providing a platform for critical legislative and fiscal discussions in the state.

 The session will open with the Governor’s Address, laying out the government’s roadmap for the year. Spanning ten working days, the session will allocate three days to Private Members’ Business and seven days to Government Business, with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who also holds the Finance portfolio, scheduled to present the state budget on February 20.

The schedule was finalized during a Business Advisory Committee meeting chaired by Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, with Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong in attendance. The Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma, and Member Paul Lyngdoh participated through online mode. Also present at the meeting were Cyril V. Darlong Diengdoh, Commissioner & Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Department; Dr. Andrew Simons, Commissioner & Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly; and Malthus S. Sangma, Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
