Shillong, May 2: Signalling an impending leadership transition in the Meghalaya unit of the Congress after the next electoral cycle, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee President Vincent H Pala hinted he may not seek another terms as State Congress President, stating that his tenure will be over in 2028 following the Legislative Assembly election and that the party will accordingly choose his successor. He said, once the 2028 comes then definitely AICC have to choose someone else, while emphasising that the Congress in the State is not constrained by a leadership vacuum.
Talking to media persons, MPCC President Vincent H Pala said, “My tenure as Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee President is not yet over, it will be till 2028. So once the 2028 comes then definitely they have to choose someone else. After the Legislative Assembly election. The party will decide whom to elect as my successor. We have so many leaders in Congress, Madam Deborah is a very senior Congress leader, we have so many district presidents. They are very competent. We are not shortage of leaders. Party will take a call.”
