Turning enforcement into education, the South West Garo Hills Police carried their road safety message straight to the streets of Garodoba, stressing that traffic rules are meant to save lives, not just impose penalties.
DySP (HQrs), South West Garo Hills, Ampati, along with the Officer-in-Charge of Garodoba OGC, conducted an awareness programme on traffic rules and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act in front of the Garodoba OGC, engaging directly with motorists and commuters. In a symbolic yet impactful gesture, helmets were distributed to two-wheeler riders found without protective gear, while riders and drivers adhering to safety norms were greeted with flowers as a mark of appreciation for wearing helmets and seat belts.
Addressing the public, the officers emphasised that strict adherence to traffic rules is essential to safeguard human lives and reduce road accidents, underscoring that compliance should stem from concern for personal and public safety rather than the fear of challans alone.
