Meghalaya Congress working president Deborah C Marak on Wednesday said she never expected Assam Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi to quit the party and join the BJP, describing the development as unfortunate and expressing personal disappointment over the exit of a senior leader from the organisation.
She said, “Pradyut Bordoloi is a very senior leader, I know him very well… He is a good friend of mine,” adding, “It is very unfortunate and also I never expected him to leave the party.” Referring to his reasons for quitting, she said, “He has given many reasons… I have seen his interview last night, I was feeling upset,” and added, “He is a good friend and senior Congress leader going away from Congress and joined BJP.” Marak, however, refused to comment on Gaurav Gogoi’s leadership.
