ANTF Meghalaya Busts Drug Peddlers En Route from Silchar to Shillong

In a decisive operation early on October 24, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Meghalaya intercepted suspected drug traffickers travelling from Silchar to Shillong. Acting on a tip-off, a naka was set up at Sohryngkham, where a vehicle bearing registration AS 11 EC 3733 was stopped.

Two passengers, Smti Suma, 42, and Shri Sultan Mahammad Mazumder, 35, both residents of Silchar, Assam, were apprehended. From their possession, authorities recovered four soap boxes containing suspected heroin with a total net weight of 54.13 grams. “The seized contraband and the accused persons were handed over to IC Sohryngkham. An FIR has been filed by ANTF Meghalaya at Sohryngkham OP of EKH DEF for further necessary action,” confirmed an official statement.
