Senior BJP legislator and Cabinet Minister A.L. Hek has expressed strong support for the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) over the Inner Line Permit (ILP), calling it a more effective mechanism to ensure safety and accountability for both residents and visitors in the State.
Hek highlighted MRSSA’s potential to safeguard all individuals entering Meghalaya, whether tourists or those visiting for official purposes. He stressed that the Act empowers local institutions like the Dorbar Shnong and police to work together on registration and monitoring, enhancing grassroots vigilance. According to him, MRSSA, especially in its amended form, offers a practical and inclusive solution that the State should implement without delay.
