In a firm rebuttal to internal murmurs and political speculation, AICC in-charge for Meghalaya, Dr. A. Chellakumar, categorically ruled out any possibility of replacing Vincent H. Pala as the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, asserting that the leadership remains unchallenged and intact.
“Do you find any vacancy here? Now there is no vacancy. Vincent H. Pala is the Pradesh Congress Committee President. How can you say that?” Dr. Chellakumar stated, underscoring the party’s unwavering confidence in Pala’s stewardship. He further remarked, “Because somebody left the Congress party, it doesn’t mean that it is a failure of leadership. If somebody is greedy, what can you do? We are not here to fix a price for some individuals.”
Projecting Pala as the cornerstone of Congress’ resurgence in Meghalaya, Chellakumar hailed him as “a loyal Congress man, dedicated Congress man,” who has “served as a Minister in the Union Government” and is “working hard as PCC President.”
Defending Pala’s leadership amid political realignments, Chellakumar highlighted a reverse trend now unfolding within the state’s political landscape. “Today, people who left the Congress are coming back, and those who served the state in different fields are also joining the party, accepting Vincent Pala’s leadership,” he asserted — a statement that signals the Congress’ renewed attempt to consolidate its base ahead of the next electoral battle.
