Who Is Sanjay Verma? Police Reveal Shocking Twist in Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case

Who is Sanjay Verma? That is the question dominating the murder investigation of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, as the mysterious identity takes centre stage. Sanjay Verma had reportedly exchanged 119 calls with Sonam Raghuvanshi—Raja’s wife and the prime accused—between March 1 and March 25, raising serious suspicion about his possible role in the conspiracy. With the investigation shifting focus to Indore, Meghalaya Police launched efforts to trace Verma and determine his connection to the case.

However, in a dramatic revelation, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem told Meghalaya News 24 that “Sanjay Verma is a fictitious name registered in Truecaller. Mobile number belongs to Raj only.”

Interestinly, accused Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother, Govind, claimed he had no knowledge of anyone named Sanjay Verma. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said, “I don’t know anything about Sanjay Verma. I had come to show you all the places where Raj used to work. Nothing has been seized from here. I don’t know anything about Sanjay. I have also learned today that Sanjay’s name is also coming up in this.”

Meanwhile, the five accused, including Sonam, will be produced before the court this afternoon. Police are expected to seek further remand as “more investigations [are] left.”
