The Election Committee of the Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Monday submitted its recommendation to the party’s State Executive Committee, proposing Dr. Batskhem Myrboh as the candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election from the 1-Shillong Parliamentary Constituency. The by-election follows the untimely demise of the sitting Member of Parliament, Dr. Ricky A. J. Syngkon, who passed away on 19 February 2026.
“We have recommended Dr. Batskhem Myrboh to the State Executive Committee for approval as the party candidate,” said a VPP leader. The party’s decision sets the stage for a closely watched electoral contest in the state capital’s lone parliamentary seat.
