Shillong, August 21: Two persons were killed and one woman was left battling for her life after a devastating road mishap at Mukhla around 11:30 AM today, when a truck (Regn. No. UP76T 1960) toppled over a Maruti Alto (Regn. No. ML04E 0731) and also hit a woman carrying her child.
The two-year-old boy, Master Hawasan Sari, who was on his mother’s back, sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to Norman Tunnel Hospital, Jowai, where doctors declared him “brought dead.” His mother, Sooki Sari of Ladmukhla, is in critical condition.
The Alto driver, Convince Susngi of Nangbah Village, was also rushed to Jowai Civil Hospital but was declared “brought dead” on arrival. His post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow.
West Jaintia Hills SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, IPS, confirmed the fatalities.
