Special Yoga Session Held in Shillong to Curb Substance Abuse Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2025

Shillong, June 3, 2025: In a move to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote holistic wellness through the ancient science of yoga, the East Khasi Hills District Yogasana Sports Association, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, East Khasi Hills, organized a “Special Yoga Session” today at the R.B. Anuphand Hindi Higher Secondary School premises, Keating Road, Shillong. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – 2025, a flagship initiative for a drug-free India.

The special session saw active participation from students, teachers, yoga enthusiasts, and members of civil society, and was graced by several eminent dignitaries from the district administration, social welfare departments, and yoga institutions. With the serene morning breeze and tranquil ambiance of Keating Road as the backdrop, the participants immersed themselves in guided yoga practices, breathing exercises, and meditative routines aimed at encouraging mental clarity and physical well-being.

This Special Yoga Session is part of a series of awareness programmes scheduled throughout the year in various parts of East Khasi Hills to reinforce the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan—a national campaign committed to building a drug-free society through education, awareness, and empowerment.

The enthusiastic turnout and the disciplined execution of the session underlined the community’s shared resolve to fight addiction not just through policy but through practice.
