Police Recover 55 Live Anti-Aircraft Ammunition in South West Garo Hills


Acting on reliable source information, a joint team of police from Salmanpara and Ampati Police Stations under South West Garo Hills district carried out a search operation on January 6 that led to the recovery of a large cache of suspected live ammunition, raising serious security concerns in the region.
The operation was conducted in a bamboo grove near Santogre village under the jurisdiction of Salmanpara Police Station, where the police team unearthed 55 suspected live anti-aircraft ammunition buried underground. According to a press communiqué issued by the Superintendent of Police, South West Garo Hills, Vikash Varma, IPS, the recovered ammunition was seized at the spot in the presence of independent witnesses, following all prescribed legal procedures. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the ammunition and identify individuals involved in the illegal activity. The police have appealed to the public to share any information related to miscreants involved in unlawful acts with the nearest police station, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and that suitable rewards will be provided.
