Meghalaya Steps Up Vigil Along Bangladesh Border Amid Measles Surge

Health authorities in Meghalaya have significantly intensified surveillance along the international border with Bangladesh and issued clear directives to all districts adjoining the neighbouring country to remain on high alert and promptly report any unusual health incidents, as Bangladesh is witnessing a sharp surge in measles cases accompanied by reported child fatalities.

Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla stated that the state health machinery is maintaining close coordination with all border districts to monitor the evolving situation. He said, “As you all know there is a measles outbreak in our border country Bangladesh, where more than hundred children have died, as of now from the health department we are in close contact with all the district bordering Bangladesh, as of now we haven’t got any kind of report from their but still we have given clear direction that they will be on alert and to report if any incident happens but as of now no incident report led today.”
