Meghalaya Cabinet Clears ₹22.37 Crore Land Compensation for Mawkhanu Power Transmission Project

The Meghalaya Cabinet on Monday evening approved ₹22.37 crore towards land compensation for the construction of the 132 kV double-circuit transmission line from the 220/132 kV Saisiej Substation to the proposed 132/33 kV, 2×50 MVA Mawkhanu Substation. The approval also includes compensation for the Right of Way (RoW) required for the transmission corridor. The project is expected to strengthen the State’s power transmission network, improve the reliability of electricity supply and support Meghalaya’s growing energy demand.

Briefing media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Cabinet Minister Marcuise N. Marak said, “Basically, there was a stretch of around 6.5 kms transmission line, which is basically drawn the line towards Mawkhanu Substation, there the State Government has to acquire some plot of land, so which the Cabinet has already approved the stretch of 6.5 kms for Rs 22,37,83,729/- so the Cabinet has approved this substation line.”
