Hek Urges West Bengal CM to Order Fact-Finding Probe into Tarapith Fire Incident; 5 from Meghalaya Killed

Senior BJP Legislator in Meghalaya AL Hek had appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari to send a fact-finding team to enquire into the cause of the fire in which eight people, including five from Meghalaya, died at Tarapith in West Bengal’s Birbhum district.


The fire broke out at a hotel in Tarapith claiming eight lives and triggering concerns over the circumstances surrounding the incident. Five of the deceased were from Meghalaya, including two children, turning the tragedy into a matter of particular concern for the State.

Hek urged the West Bengal government to conduct a detailed fact-finding inquiry to establish the cause of the fire.
“I appeal to honourable chief minister of West Bengal Shuvendu Adhikari to send the fact finding team to enquire about the cause of fire in which as many as eight persons, including five were from Meghalaya,” Hek said.

They were killed after a fire broke out in a hotel at Tarapith, in West Bengal’s Birbhum district in the early hours of Monday.

“Ofcourse definitely I will urge the Chief Minister of West Bengal to enquire about this incident,” Hek added.

The Meghalaya victims who were rescued from the site but subsequently declared dead were identified as Rajendra Nath, Asha Nath, Buran Madak, 10-year-old Shivraj Madak and eight-year-old Aushnath Madak.
