SHILLONG, June 11, 2025: Additional Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Ashish A, on Wednesday confirmed that rented two-wheelers were used by the remaining three accused to reach Sohra, and that extensive technical and human intelligence played a crucial role in identifying the culprits behind the alleged murder of tourist Raja Raghuvanshi.
“See, they had also rented, scooty only, so basically in rented scooty is with which they travel,” he said, when asked how the remaining three accused reached Sohra.
Explaining how the police tracked the accused, he stated, “The extensive technical analysis, extensive human intelligence also has been deployed and a lot of analysis went into zeroing upon who the actual culprits were. So, based on that we zeroed in on these people and that’s how we got them.”
Admitting that technology played a significant role in the investigation, he said, “We live in a world of technology, so, a lot of things in the domain have come to our aid.”
He also indicated that the suspected murder may have occurred near the falls. “From our preliminary investigation, we are of the belief that the incident happens somewhere around that (Weisawdong Falls in Sohra) area only. That is what I’m saying from the information that we have from the evidence that we’ve collected in that area, the crime happened somewhere near the place itself.”
