Shillong, July 15, 2025: In a major crackdown on cross-border infiltration, alert troops of the 22 Battalion BSF Meghalaya apprehended 26 Bangladeshi nationals along with four Indian touts near the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Garo Hills district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the BSF personnel intercepted three vehicles near Matchokpara on Hill Road, moving from Purakhasia towards Barengapara along State Highway-12. The swift and coordinated action led to the successful interception of the vehicles and the capture of all individuals involved.
“Subsequent verification revealed that 26 Bangladeshi nationals were being facilitated by four Indian touts in an attempt to infiltrate into India,” said PRO, BSF Meghalaya.
The BSF hailed the operation as a significant success in their ongoing efforts to curb illegal infiltration and cross-border crimes. “This successful operation, based on precise BSF intelligence inputs, stands as a testament to the unwavering vigilance, operational efficiency, and dedication of BSF Meghalaya in safeguarding national security,” the PRO added.
