In a clear indication that the BJP is tightening its organisational grip in Meghalaya, the party has decided to conduct a detailed survey and study of Central government schemes at the grassroots level to assess their implementation and impact. Member of Parliament Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, speaking at the State BJP Executive Meeting and organisational training session, stressed the importance of evaluating whether flagship schemes announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are truly reaching the beneficiaries in the state’s remotest corners.

“We are discussing on the expansion of our organisation and the confidence building of the people because from Delhi we are sending lot of Schemes. That should be surveyed what the people are getting in grassroot level. Wheather the JJM, or other Central Government schemes which PM Narendra Modi has given to the people of India is it reaching to the grassroot level of Meghalaya that needs to be studied. We have requested our Karyakartas to give report wheather the schemes given by the Centre like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are they implemented or not that needs to be studied needs to be surveyed. It’s not a East thing Meghalaya Geographically is a difficult state so it will take time and definitely in due course of time we can take decision on which sector we can work,” Tasa said.

Asked about the reported diversion of funds, he responded, “Let’s see we have to study it. This is organisation meeting. We have requested all the party workers to see this, and study this. We have Kisan, Mahila, Yuva and all Morchas are there, they will submit the report.”

He underlined that “Expansion of organisation and discussion on Government schemes are separate matter. It is a regular meeting of State committee and the first meeting of newly declared State president and his team.”

Highlighting the participation at the meeting, he said, “All state office bearers attended, Mandals and District Committees presidents attended the meeting. The meeting discussed on Expansion of the party. In future we have to work hard for the party, our party workers are working in a difficult position and they want the party to expand every where, we are hopeful to expand the party further in Meghalaya.”

On the BJP’s performance in the state compared to its neighbours, he remarked, “Though BJP is doing well in Assam, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh, the party’s performance in Meghalaya continues to be unsatisfactory. It will take time, in Assam also BJP took many years to fulfill the dreams of the people and stand where it is now, even in Tripura after long time we have got power. In Meghalaya we think with the hard work of the Kariyakartas the number of seats will gradually increase as our survey says as our study says. In future we can go upto 25 seats. Lot o lf controversies are also there, we will finish all the controversies with the people. Lot of things are not with BJP to implement but the party is blamed for the lack of implementation of those.”
