Shillong, July 29: In a significant push towards digital governance and citizen-centric public service delivery, the East Khasi Hills District Administration has launched a dedicated online grievance portal to provide residents with a single-window platform for registering complaints and seeking time-bound redressal. The initiative, inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, is aimed at strengthening grassroots governance by creating a direct interface between citizens and the district administration, while advancing the Meghalaya Government’s broader objective of taking public services to the doorsteps of the people.
Tynsong said the Government’s objective is to reach every citizen and effectively address individual, village-level and area-level grievances. “The core intention of the government is to reach every citizen and address their individual, village-level, and area-level grievances effectively,” he said. He also said the Government has directed District Transport Officers to facilitate the issuance of driving licences through Block Development Officer (BDO) offices to improve access to public services at the grassroots.
The portal, developed by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, has been designed as a dedicated district-level grievance redressal mechanism. While individual government departments already operate their own online services, the new platform will allow citizens to place any issue within the district administration’s jurisdiction directly before the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Upon receiving a complaint, the Deputy Commissioner’s office will acknowledge it and immediately route the matter to the concerned branch, department or administrative wing for real-time resolution. “Through this dedicated jurisdiction portal, citizens can easily bring any subject or complaint to the attention of the district administration. Upon receiving a complaint, the Deputy Commissioner’s office will acknowledge it and immediately route the matter to the concerned branch, department, or wing operating within their jurisdiction to ensure real-time resolution,” he said.
