Youth Congress Accuses Conrad Sangma of Silence on NEET Crisis, Alleges BJP Pressure

Amid continuing concerns over the NEET paper leak controversy, which has affected a large section of students aspiring to pursue medical education across the country, Meghalaya Youth Congress president Timjim Momin on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, accusing him of failing to stand up for the interests of students from the State and remaining silent on an issue that has affected thousands of medical aspirants across the country. Claiming that around 2,000 to 3,000 students from Meghalaya appeared for the prestigious examination, Momin alleged that the State’s top leadership had not adequately voiced the concerns of students whose futures were linked to the credibility of the national entrance test.

The criticism came as the Youth Congress intensified its attack on the Union Government over the handling of the NEET controversy, contending that examination-related irregularities had shaken the confidence of students and parents alike. The organisation maintained that the State Government should have taken a stronger stand to safeguard the interests of Meghalaya’s youth and demand accountability from the Centre.

Addressing the media, Momin expressed disappointment over what he described as the Chief Minister’s failure to intervene on behalf of students affected by the controversy.

“We are very much sad to see that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has not even raised a single voice for the youths of the state, so we are so sorry to say that.”

Highlighting the significance of the examination, he said thousands of students from Meghalaya had appeared for one of the country’s most competitive entrance tests and deserved support from the State leadership.

“It’s been like more than 2000 to 3000 student who has been appearing for the one of the prestigious exam and who is going to be the future,” Momin said.

He further added,

“One of the most capable future doctors of the state, so we are very much Sorry to say that the head of the state our chief minister is being compromised and being deprived by the ideology and suppression of BJP.”

Indian Youth Congress Secretary and Meghalaya in-charge Samrat Keshari Jena also criticised the Centre over the issue and asserted that the organisation would continue to stand with students affected by the controversy.

“We will stand with the students and we will make whatever the possibility to sack the Government and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan,” Jena said.

The remarks come amid continuing political scrutiny of the conduct of national-level entrance examinations, with opposition parties and student organisations demanding greater transparency, accountability and safeguards to protect the interests of aspirants and restore public confidence in the examination system.
