The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has formally cleared the candidature of Dr. Batskhem Myrboh for the forthcoming by-election to the 1-Shillong Parliamentary Constituency, signalling the party’s intent to consolidate its political footing through a candidate it describes as rooted in organisational values and public service.
The decision, taken at a meeting of the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC), follows the recommendation of the State Election Committee after internal consultations and deliberations over prospective nominees.
Dr. Londoner Murphy Sohtun, VPP Spokesperson, said, “The decision was taken after thorough deliberations and consultations among party leaders, taking into consideration Dr. Myrboh’s steadfast commitment to the party’s values and principles, public service, leadership qualities, and dedication to the welfare of the people.”
With the announcement, the party has also sought to mobilise its organisational base ahead of the electoral contest, positioning the candidature as a collective effort aimed at securing a decisive mandate.
“The party calls upon all party members, supporters, and well-wishers to continue extending their full support and cooperation, to ensure a triumphant outcome in the upcoming by-election,” The VPP spokesperson added.
