Tura Bulk Water Supply Project 70% Complete, Promises Major Boost to Rural Water Access: Marcuise N Marak

In a key development for rural water infrastructure in Meghalaya, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department’s Bulk Water Supply project aimed at serving the adjoining villages of Tura town has reached 70% completion. The update came following an inspection conducted by PHE Minister Marcuise N Marak, accompanied by departmental officials, in the aftermath of a review meeting.

“I along with the official of the department of PHE conducted an inspection of the Bulk Water Supply to adjoining rural villages of Tura town project, which is now 70% complete! Pleased to see the steady progress and commend the hard work of the teams involved,” the Minister stated during the visit.

Conceived as a crucial infrastructure initiative, the project is expected to transform water accessibility in and around Tura by ensuring a consistent and safe supply to households that have long struggled with shortages. The Minister lauded the department’s efforts in pushing forward the project despite logistical and terrain-related challenges.

“This critical infrastructure project will significantly improve water accessibility for Tura’s residents once completed,” he added, underscoring the government’s focus on accelerating developmental works that directly impact citizens’ daily lives.

The Bulk Water Supply project aligns with Meghalaya’s broader push to strengthen rural utility services, aiming to bridge the urban-rural divide and uplift basic living standards across the Garo Hills region.
