In a significant Political development, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh, United Democratic Party (UDP) General Secretary has resigned from the party after serving the party for over 15 years. Confirming the resignation, UDP Working President Paul Lyngdoh stated, “All I know is that he (Jemino Mawthoh) has tendered his resignation.”
Though there has been no official statement from Dr. Mawthoh or the UDP’s central leadership as of now, party insiders confirm that the resignation was submitted to UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh.
Dr. Mawthoh, a former legislator and the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance’s consensus candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has not publicly commented on his departure. However, sources close to the veteran politician reveal that he has been approached by multiple parties eager to capitalise on his strong public image and grassroots network.
