In a significant political development in Meghalaya, the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) received a major boost with the induction of more than 300 new members into its fold. The new entrants include supporters and leaders formerly associated with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Indian National Congress. They joined NPP at a program organised at Ronjeng East Garo Hills.
Among the prominent figures who joined the NPP are Francis Pondit R. Sangma and Sengnam Marak, both influential leaders in their respective constituencies. Their move, along with hundreds of grassroots workers, is expected to strengthen NPP’s organisational base and political momentum ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
