Meghalaya’s distinctive Eri silk has received a high-profile showcase, with actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut seen draped in a handcrafted premium Meghalaya Eri silk saree for one of her special events at DD News.
The moment was highlighted by Taara Veda in an Instagram post, which featured a video of Ranaut wearing the Meghalaya Eri silk saree and celebrated the traditional weave and craftsmanship behind it.
Describing the moment as one of “pure pride”, Taara Veda said witnessing Meghalaya’s traditional weave on Ranaut was a “dream come true”.
The post described the saree as featuring Ahimsa silk and highlighted the texture and craftsmanship of Eri silk, traditionally associated with patience, peace and slow luxury.
“The texture: Ahimsa silk at its finest,” the post said.
“Every thread of Eri silk tells a story of patience, peace, and slow luxury. Seeing her bring that story to life at one of her special events leaves us speechless. Elegance, personified,” Taara Veda said in the Instagram post.
