SHILLONG: Security has been intensified at Khyndai Lad, anticipating the Khasi Students’ Union’s proposed sit-in demonstration, despite the East Khasi Hills district administration denying permission for the agitation amid heightened tensions following the recent violence in Shillong.
A heavy contingent of security personnel, including the Rapid Action Force, CRPF and the state police’s Special Operations Team, has been deployed in and around the area.
The deployment is aimed at preventing any unauthorised gathering and ensuring that the administration’s restrictions on the proposed protest are enforced.
The East Khasi Hills district administration has urged the KSU to comply with its order denying permission for the sit-in and maintain peace and public order.
