As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) completed 12 years at the helm of the Union Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Meghalaya unit of the party on Wednesday commemorated the milestone with a prayer meet in Shillong, highlighting what it described as a decade-long journey of transformative governance, infrastructure-led development and welfare-driven policies. Organised around the pillars of seva, samarpan, sushasan and vikas, the event reflected the party’s gratitude for what it termed 12 years of transformative governance while reaffirming its commitment to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
The programme, attended by party workers and leaders from various frontal organisations, was led by State BJP president Rikman G. Momin and senior BJP legislator A.L. Hek. Beyond celebrating the achievements of the Modi Government, the event also underscored the party’s aspirations to strengthen its political footprint in Meghalaya in the years ahead.
“Significant personal mile stone for Modi ji, he has now become the longest serving elected prime minister of India. Today’s event is the celebration of this transformative journey, we are thrilled to have you with us to look back at this grand milestone and look forward to the spectacular road map ahead,” said State BJP president Rikman G. Momin.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future prospects in Meghalaya, senior BJP legislator A.L. Hek said, “I hope in 2028, it will be BJP led government in Meghalaya.”
Highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and the significance of the occasion, he added, “Narendra Modi ji through his leadership has shown the way not only to our country India but also to the people of the world. Today I would like to thank the president and all our karyakartas for gathering here today for the reasons that we have a very big reason to celebrate the achievement of 12 years of the our beloved prime Minister Narendra Modi ji.”
The party also highlighted the Centre’s developmental initiatives in Meghalaya despite the State not being governed by the BJP. Emphasising the impact of infrastructure projects and welfare schemes, BJP spokesperson M. Kharkrang said, “The kind of infrastructure that has been brought to the state has never been seen in the last 40-45 years where we’re under the rule of other political parties. So many kind of beneficiaries are benefited through various schemes our prime minister has given to the people so if India has to grow it has to grow from the grassroot. The schemes that are given are not freebies, schemes are given to the people so that they can go up in the economic ladder and contribute to the nation building. Meghalaya is not a BJP ruled state, Yet the bjp led government at the centre has made all efforts and never stopped any capital investment from given to Meghalaya.”
The observance formed part of the BJP’s nationwide programme marking 12 years of the Modi Government, with party leaders across the country highlighting achievements in governance, infrastructure development, welfare delivery and economic growth while renewing support for the goal of building a developed India by 2047.
