The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) has staged a protest at Congress Bhawan, Shillong. The demonstration was organized to voice grievances against the alleged paper leak of the NEET UG 2026 examination, with protesters demanding immediate transparency and corrective action from the Government of India and the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The protest comes amid growing nationwide concerns over the credibility of competitive examinations, with Youth Congress members alleging that repeated irregularities in national-level entrance tests have severely undermined the confidence of students and parents. Raising slogans against the BJP-led Central government and the NTA, the protesters asserted that the issue was not rooted in political speculation, but reflected a serious crisis affecting the aspirations and future of lakhs of students preparing for medical entrance examinations across the country.
The party maintained that the alleged leak had exposed glaring lapses in the examination system and called for accountability, transparency and urgent institutional reforms to restore public trust in the conduct of national examinations.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president Vincent H. Pala launched a sharp attack on the BJP while addressing the gathering.
“The corruption level in BJP has gone upto the climate and now they don’t spare even the students. Normally, the corruption are in contact works, Government schemes and others but today they are selling questions, billions of people in this country are suffering,” Pala said.
He alleged that repeated controversies surrounding national examinations had created anxiety, uncertainty and frustration among students who dedicate years to preparing for highly competitive tests, and said the Centre must act decisively to restore the credibility of the examination process and protect the future of the country’s youth.
