70 Meghalaya Students Sheltered in Delhi Meghalaya House Amid India-Pakistan Tensions: CM Sangma

SHILLONG, MAY 10: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday said that close to 70 students from the state studying in Punjab and Haryana have been safely accommodated at Meghalaya House in Delhi.

“In view of the prevailing situation between our nation and Pakistan, as of this morning, about 70 students from Meghalaya who are pursuing their studies in Punjab and Haryana have been accommodated in Meghalaya House, Delhi. We are expecting some more students who are still on their way,” the Chief Minister said.

The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, with surveillance and counter-drone mechanisms in place.

Chief Minister Sangma assured that the government is closely monitoring developments and is in constant touch with both the Centre and state representatives to facilitate any further assistance required for students and residents from Meghalaya currently outside the state.
